Opening a 2D File
The 2D file type is primarily associated with AutoCAD.
What is a 2D file?
Data shows that many of these files come from different sources:
How to open a 2D file
You need a suitable software like AutoCAD to open a 2D file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your 2D file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a 2D file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert 2D files:
- AutoCAD
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. 2D files are often referred to as AutoCAD cads because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- AmapiAlso registered by Graphic Converter Pro (GRAPHICSCONVERTER.EXE). This file format is classified as Graphic. Program ID is GraphicsConverterPro.2d Related links: XnView

2D format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the 2D files looks like this:
The 2D file extension is not common and is used by different programs with different formats. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 35% of all 2D files are VersaCAD 2D drawing files. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The average file size is 150 KB with most files being between 19 KB and 340 KB in size. The keywords 001VCADATT are typical for these files. These files are attributed to lajica.
- 15% of all 2D files are based on the zip format, that is, a 2D file includes multiple compressed files. The included 5 to 8 files have file names such as CONTENT_2D.BBK, CONTENT_2D.BIN, CONTENT_2D.FDB, PNG1.PNG, \MultiLayerWalls\multiLayerWallsBD.xml and \Variants\. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. The files are on average 1 MB in size and range from 950 KB to 4 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as CONTENT_2D.BBK and HR YD.
All other 2D files (50%) have different formats, the following 3 formats can be found: NUTS format. You can get all the details of your 2D file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .2d file to view this image" above.
Technical Data for 2D File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\Roxio\Easy Media Creator 7\Disc Copier\DiscCopier7.exe %1
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\XnView\xnview.exe %1
a 2d CAD drawing file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with 2D files
- Associate the 2D file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open cad drawing files. Because only the current version supports the latest 2D file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available AutoCAD update.
- To make sure that your 2D file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .2D file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
