All about A1 Files
The A1 file type is primarily associated with GameMaker Studio.
What is an A1 file
How to open A1 files
You need a suitable software like GameMaker Studio to open an A1 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your A1 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a A1 file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert A1 files:
- GameMaker Studio
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. A1 files are often referred to as GameMaker Studio games because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Free Pascal (Archive File for GO321v1 Platform) by FPC Development TeamFree Pascal (aka FPK Pascal) is a 32 or 64 bit (from 1.9.6) pascal compiler. It is available for different processors Intel x86, Amd64/x86 64 (from 1.9.6), PowerPC (from 1.9.2), Sparc (from 1.9.6) and Motorola 680x0 (1.0.x only). The following operating systems are supported Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, MacOSX/Darwin, MacOS classic, DOS, Win32, OS/2, BeOS, SunOS (Solaris), QNX and Classic Amiga.
A1 file extension format:
To view or edit A1 files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below is our analysis of the A1 files:
A1 is seldom used as a file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The file formats most commonly found in A1 files are:
- 35% of all A1 files start with the magic bytes 96 63 AF F6 67 AC A9 6F, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. Most of these files are 4 KB to 25 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. An example of a file name is _save0.a1 or _save1.a1. These files are attributed to save.
- 7% of all A1 files start with the bytes CharModelAni1 crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. Most of these files are 15 KB to 89 KB in size. The keywords Bip01, Bip01 Pelvis, Bip01 Spine, CharModelAni1, Bip01 Footsteps, Bip01 Head, Bip01 Neck, Bip01 Spine1 and Bip01 Spine2 are typical for these files.
The remaining 58% of all A1 files are different files with different signatures, frequently e.g. RIFF. Often described as recording, screen or finance. If you want to find out what your A1 file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

an a1 proprietary data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with A1 files
- Associate the A1 file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open proprietary data files. Because only the current version supports the latest A1 file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available GameMaker Studio update.
- To make sure that your A1 file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
