What is an A1 file

A1 files mostly belong to GameMaker Studio.
  • Game Save File: A1 files can store game progress data. For example, one variant is used by Geometry Dash. It is generated using GameMaker Studio and was developed by A1-Imager.
  • 3D Animation Data: Other A1 files hold 3D character animation information. These files are produced with 3ds Max. More details are available at Autodesk 3ds Max Overview.
  • CNC Machine Parameters: A further use is to store settings and machine instructions for CNC machining. This form is used with Hypertherm Edge Pro systems. For more info, visit Hypertherm.
  • FilExt.com notes: The A1 extension does not refer to a single file type. Instead, its internal structure varies with the software that creates it. To open an A1 file, use the application associated with its use case.

    How to open A1 files

You need a suitable software like GameMaker Studio to open an A1 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your A1 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a A1 file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

    A1 file extension format:

To view or edit A1 files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below is our analysis of the A1 files:

A1 is seldom used as a file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The file formats most commonly found in A1 files are:

The remaining 58% of all A1 files are different files with different signatures, frequently e.g. RIFF. Often described as recording, screen or finance. If you want to find out what your A1 file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
