What is an ADM file?

ADM files mostly belong to Local Group Policy Editor by Microsoft. An ADM file is a template which Local Group Policy Editor (GPEdit) uses to describe registry-based policy settings on Windows. Users with administrator access on Windows can access these settings from GPEdit. Another type of ADM file contains temporary data automatically by generated by Portfolio digital asset management software. Advantage Database Server uses a different type of ADM file to save temporary data. ADM is also the filename extension of waypoints, routes, and tracks saved by Garmin chart plotters. BaseCamp can import and display such GPS data. Alphacam woodworking software uses an ADM file to save a diecut macro.

How to open an ADM file

You need a suitable software like Local Group Policy Editor to open an ADM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ADM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ADM file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Our evaluation of the ADM files is as follows:

The ADM file extension includes different formats for the applicable programs. But the following two file formats are common:

All other ADM files (40%) have no uniform format, frequently e.g. Windows Policy Administrative Template and Addict compiled dictionary. Sometimes used for dayzserver. If you want to find out which format your ADM file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .adm file to analyze".
