What is an ADOC file?

ADOC files mostly belong to Asciidoctor by Asciidoctor Developers. An ADOC file contains markup written in AsciiDoc markup language. How to open an ADOC file

You need a suitable software like Asciidoctor to open an ADOC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ADOC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ADOC file directly in the browser:. ADOC file format:

To view or edit ADOC files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. ADOC is one of the most common file extensions and mainly uses a defined ADOC format. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 95% of all ADOC files use the ZIP format, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one ADOC file. The files are often between 4 KB and 60 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: source-highlighter, :icons: font and sectnums. The file name README.adoc is typical for these files.
