What is an AHS file

AHS files mostly belong to Photoshop by Adobe. AHS is the extension for the Adobe Halftone Screen file format. It is used by Adobe Photoshop, a raster graphics editing software. An AHS file stores the settings needed by Adobe Photoshop to prepare a halftone image. Halftone images are produced using single-colour dots that vary either in size or in spacing to give the desired picture. AHS files are used to store information about the dots within the halftone image. This includes their frequency in lines per inch or lines per centimeter, the angle in degrees, as well as what the shape is (diamond, cross, round, square etc.). AHS files are also used by the HP Active Health System, which monitors and records changes in the server hardware and system configuration, and delivers rapid resolution when server failures occur. An AHS file is an archive of server health data. It contains a log of diagnostic information which is sent to HP support.

How can I open an AHS file?

You need a suitable software like Photoshop to open an AHS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your AHS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a AHS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

This file format is classified as Compressed. Related links: AHS Article, Downloading an Active Health System Log, Active Health System Overview

AHS file extension format:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. In the following you will find our evaluation of the AHS files:

The AHS file extension is quite common and mainly uses a special format. The file formats most commonly found in AHS files are:

The remaining 4% of all AHS files are different files with different signatures, often e.g. PKG. Just click the "Choose your .ahs file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your AHS file is.
