AQM file format details:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the AQM files looks like this:
AQM is not a commonly used file extension and mainly uses a defined AQM format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 80% of all AQM files are using the well-known UTF-16 (LE) file format to store the data. UTF-16 (LE) is an character encoding system for Unicode. UTF-16 files can be viewed in any modern text editor. These files start with the two bytes FF FE, the so called byte order mark (BOM). If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are often between 10 KB and 20 KB in size. The file type was primarily used more than 10 years ago. The files contain the following words: Congratulations, You did not pass and you passed. These files are often associated with cfag.
- 2% of all AQM files are AlpineQuest Map files. These files contain text and words, not binary data. Most of these files are 160 MB to 1 GB in size.
All the rest of the AQM files (18%) have different formats. If you want to find out which format your AQM file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .aqm file to analyze".
