What is an AV file?

AV files mostly belong to VLC by VideoLAN. AV file extension is mostly associated with the Multimedia Container Format (MCF) used to save video files recorded by surveillance cameras and dashboard cameras. How can I open an AV file?

You need a suitable software like VLC to open an AV file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
