What is a DPC file?

DPC files mostly belong to Game Engine. A DPC file is not a single, standardized file type. Instead, it is used by several different applications to store data in a container format. The most common use is as a game data file for game engines, especially those used by Asobo Studio on projects such as A Plague Tale: Innocence.
Other implementations include:

Archive Containers: Some DPC files are built on the ZIP format. These are used by certain Brazilian accounting software to bundle files.
Design and Configuration Files: A few are based on Microsoft Compound formats or XML. They work as design files (for example, in Design and Print Center applications) or as configuration setups like those for Dolby Pro Logic II.
Specialized Data Containers: There are also DPC files used for camera data and digital photo collages, where the file gathers project-specific assets.

Opening a DPC file depends on its origin. For game data files, only the game or a dedicated engine tool will read its contents. If the file uses ZIP compression, an archive manager (for example, 7-Zip) might allow you to extract its contents. In design or configuration cases, the associated proprietary software is needed.

How to open DPC files

You need a suitable software like Game Engine to open a DPC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
