Opening DPT Files
The DPT file type is primarily associated with OPUS.
What is a DPT file?
DPT files contain spectroscopy data used in scientific measurements and analysis. They are generated by instruments and processed with dedicated software. The data may include arrays of intensity values, wavelength readings, and other numerical information collected during experiments. For example, files produced by OPUS are often known as DataPoint Spectrum files. Applications such as Origin, OriginPro, and Igor Pro create similar files with names like Data Point Table or Bruker Optics data file. Visit Bruker or OriginLab for more details.
Other uses include:
FilExt.com tip: The file structure is often proprietary, meaning that conversion to common formats like CSV or TXT may require the original software. This ensures accurate reproduction of detailed measurement and instrument metadata.
How can I open a DPT file?
You need a suitable software like OPUS to open a DPT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DPT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DPT file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert DPT files:
- OPUS
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. DPT files are often referred to as OPUS data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Better File Rename (Droplet) by Frank Reiff - PublicSpace.netBetter File Rename is a comprehensive file renaming solution for Windows and the Macintosh (called Better Finder Rename) and transforms the task of renaming multiple files into a simple matter of seconds. Droplets are small scripts the sit on your desktop as an icon. When you drag and drop a file onto a droplet the name change encoded into the droplet is executed. This file format is classified as Text.
- Deluxe Portal (2.0.1 Template Set) by Nomative Systems (Andrew Harper)Deluxe Portal is an integrated content management system and discussion forum. DP treats these as PHP or HTML/XHTML coded template sets. It decompresses them and uses the included templates in its skins. The Mime types used with this association are: text/html. This file format is classified as Source Code.

- NIR spectroscopic data.DPT files contains spectroscopy data. Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a spectroscopic method that uses the near-infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum (from 780 nm to 2500 nm). It is a pure text file with numerical values: ASCII (x,y) pairs. To open a DPT file in Origin, rename it to .txt, open it and replace all comma "," with 5 spaces " ", then replace all "." with "," and save it, then open it in Origin. This file format is classified as Data. Related links: Open it in Excel

DPT format details:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our examination of the DPT files comes to the following conclusion:
The DPT extension is very commonly used. This DPT file itself is among the most popular common file types and covers a large number of different file formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in DPT files:
- 15% of all DPT files have the same signature Availity Customer ID: . The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The file size is in the range of 1 KB to 10 KB. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as --------------------, Availity Delayed Payer Report and Availity Customer ID: 1018119. Files like these are sometimes connected to covid, amerigroup, hcscil, carefirst, blue, cross, healthyblu and simplyhc.
- 40% of all DPT files have the same signature 399. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The files are on average 36 KB in size and range from 32 KB to 49 KB. Such DPT files store data about sample, juimin, mcta, pvdf, mwcnt, tagum and znce.
All other DPT files (45%) have different formats, often, for example, Kingsoft Presentation template. These files sometimes refer to results, absorbance, resolution, bcbstxg, rimsha, aetna, start, times, cozr, scan or zero. If you want to find out which format your DPT file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .dpt file to view".
Technical Data for DPT File Extension

a dpt data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with DPT files
- Associate the DPT file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest DPT file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available OPUS update.
- To make sure that your DPT file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DPT file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
