Opening a DRC File
The DRC file type is primarily associated with Draco.
What is a DRC file?
How to open DRC files
You need a suitable software like Draco to open a DRC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DRC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DRC file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

DRC format details:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the DRC files is as follows:
DRC is seldom used as a file extension and is used by different programs with different formats. But the following two file formats are common:
- 30% of all DRC files use the same file format, which have the signature DRACO. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The file size is in the range of 2 KB to 590 KB. The file type was created recently. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as DRACO. The file name bunny.drc is typical for these files.
- 20% of all DRC files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "00 00 02 00 14 01 A8 C0" at the beginning. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are on average 610 KB in size and range from 33 KB to 2 MB. The file name data.0.drc is characteristic of these files.
The remaining 50% of all DRC files are different files with different signatures, the following 4 formats exist: Source and Protel. The category is design, check or rule. You can get all the details of your DRC file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .drc file to play" above.

How to solve problems with DRC files
- Associate the DRC file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open compressed files. Because only the current version supports the latest DRC file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Draco update.
- To make sure that your DRC file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .DRC file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
