What is a DVF file?

DVF files mostly belong to Sound Organizer by Sony. A DVF file contains an audio recording captured with digital recorders Sony's IC recorders product line. Audio content stored in this DVF file is recorded at 16kps (SP mode) or 8kbps (LP mode). It is encoded using a variant of FLAC audio coding format and lossless audio compression standard. The high compression rate of DVF files results in smaller file sizes which is suitable for the small storage capacity of digital recorders. You can play a DVF recording directly on a digital recorder such as the ICD-BP100 or a Sony audio playback software such as Digital Voice Editor or Sound Organizer. Sony Player version 1.2 also allowed users to play DVF recordings in Media Player. DVF is also the filename extension of video recordings captured with Panasonic NV-DS77 camcorder. How to open DVF files

You need a suitable software like Sound Organizer to open a DVF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DVF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DVF file directly in the browser:. • 60% of all DVF files are associated with Sony Compressed Voice File. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. • 10% of all DVF files start with the magic bytes DVF 1.00SD, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are on average 140 KB in size and range from 120 KB to 140 KB. The keywords DVF 1.00SD6 are typical for these files. The file name DV00000.dvf is typical for these files.
