Opening an IID File
The IID file type is primarily associated with OMICRON IEDScout / ImageJ.
What is an IID file
The IID file can serve two distinct roles. In many cases, it is an XML-based configuration file used for SCL configuration in line with the IEC 61850 standard. This type of file is used by OMICRON IEDScout to define network and device settings in electrical substation systems. You can check its content with a standard text editor if you are comfortable reading XML code.
Alternatively, some IID files store image analysis data. In these cases the file is used by ImageJ to keep analysis results and metadata related to image processing. For more details, you can visit the ImageJ webpage.
Note: It is important to use the proper application for your IID file because using the wrong tool may lead to misinterpretation of the file's data.
- SCL Configuration File: Contains XML elements and settings for IEC 61850 systems.
- Image Analysis Data File: Houses numerical and meta-data information for processing by ImageJ.

If you cannot open your IID file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a IID file directly in the browser:. - i-Installer (i-Directory) by Gerben Wierda & Tom Hagemani-Installer is a generic software install and configuration application for Mac OS X. It installs i-Packages, which are wrappers (directories containing files) with names ending .II2 and which will look like files in most applications (like the Finder). i-Packages can be updated and downloaded from remote locations. Most of this will happen automatically. The easiest way to create packages on disk from remote locations is using a Known Packages menu. This will list a series of packages and their location for you to choose from, called an i-Directory.
