What is an IMD file

IMD files mostly belong to Dynamics GP by Microsoft. IMD filename extension is mainly associated with the image metadata format used by Geographic Information System (GIS) programs such as ArcGIS. The IMD file used by ArcGIS contains raster metadata added to a mosaic dataset of a raster type used by the program. The file may also contain references to TIF files. The metadata stored in an IMD file typically includes georeferencing information, band wavelengths, acquisition data etc. Vector diagrams created with VisioModeler are saved in IMD files. Databases used by IDEA business accounting/auditing software are saved in an ASCII text file with IMD filename extension. The same type of IMD files may be used to save "import definitions" for data imported into Dymaics GP from TruckMate transportation management software.

How to open IMD files

You need a suitable software like Dynamics GP to open an IMD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. The remaining 55% of all IMD files are different files with different signatures, such as QuarkImmedia Document, XML, JetDB and version. These files are often connected to listing, report, sales, database, sample, integration, accounts, payments, supplier, manager, picsay, travel or user.
