What is an ISD file

ISD files mostly belong to Ember Desktop. ISD files are not a single standardized file type. They are used by different software to store specific data.
For example, EmberZNet sniffer files use the ISD extension with a ZIP format. They record Zigbee network activity and are managed by software like Ember Desktop. See the details at Silicon Labs.
Also, some ISD files contain spectrometer data. These files hold measured data from instruments and are used with systems from Instrument Setup or Instrument Systems LumiSuite. More details are available at Instrument Systems.
There are ISD files that serve in statistical analysis, such as the GraphPad Instat data file, whose data is used within GraphPad Instat (GraphPad).
Other examples include files used as an Information Storage Database or as setup data for Inno Setup projects. Some ISD files are formatted in UTF-8 for instrument systems data, while others use Java format for legal document templates or InstallShield projects.
Finally, certain ISD files are used as game asset files, sometimes linked with systems like the Infinity Engine (JR Software).

How to open an ISD file

• 15% of all ISD files have the same signature 00 00. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are 2 KB to 10 MB in size, with a median of 2 MB. The file name Legal Billing.isd is typical for these files. Such files are related to logbook.
