All about ISK Files
The ISK file type is primarily associated with Active@ Disk Image.
What is an ISK file?
How can I open an ISK file?
You need a suitable software like Active@ Disk Image to open an ISK file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your ISK file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a ISK file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert ISK files:
- Active@ Disk Image
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. ISK files are often referred to as Active@ Disk Image disk images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Command File(similar to a batch file - view in text editor)
ISK file format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the ISK files produces the following result:
You will often come across the ISK file type. This includes different formats for the applicable programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 30% of all ISK files have the same signature 33 C0 8E D0 BC 00. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. The files are 430 bytes to 500 bytes in size, with a median of 430 bytes. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as t&fh. The file name lsmc.isk is characteristic of these files.
- 25% of all ISK files start with the magic bytes EB 58 90, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. ISK files can be up to 600 bytes in size, but are often around 510 bytes - 600 bytes. The keywords MSDOS5.0 and NO NAME FAT32 3 are typical for these files. An example of a file name is lsfc.isk.
All other ISK files (45%) have no uniform format, often, for example, NTFS. You can get all the details of your ISK file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .isk file to analyze" above.
Technical Data for ISK File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.

an isk disk image file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with ISK files
- Associate the ISK file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open disk image files. Because only the current version supports the latest ISK file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Active@ Disk Image update.
- To make sure that your ISK file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .ISK file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
