What is an NCC file?

NCC files mostly belong to Nokia PC Suite. This file may be one of several distinct formats.: For example, one common use is as a Nokia backup file. In this case the NCC file is a Nokia phone data file encoded in UTF-16 (LE), used by applications such as Nokia Phone Browser and Nokia PC Suite to store phone backup data.

How to open NCC files

You need a suitable software like Nokia PC Suite to open an NCC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. NCC file extension format:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our examination of the NCC files comes to the following conclusion:

The NCC file extension is used by different programs with different formats. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 40% of all NCC files belong to Nokia PC Suite Content Copier. The files are using the common file format UTF-16 (LE). UTF-16 (LE) is an character encoding system for Unicode. UTF-16 files can be viewed in any modern text editor. These files start with the two bytes FF FE, the so called byte order mark (BOM). These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. NCC files can be up to 89 KB in size, but are often around 690 bytes - 62 KB. The file type was primarily used more than 10 years ago. Examples of file names are Messages.ncc or PhoneBook.ncc. These files are often associated with phone, book, functions, calendar, zenetek, advanced, profiles and agenda.
• 10% of all NCC files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "% " at the beginning. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. NCC files can be up to 740 KB in size, but are often around 1 KB - 220 KB. The keywords N10 (MACH3 MILL - ), N40 (SYSTEM- ONECNC-XR2 MILL ADVANTAGE - VERSION 8.12), N50 (NOTES - NONE), N20 (AUTHOR - {BOB WARFIELD}), N30 (GROUP - SPOT DRILL AND ENGRAVE PANEL) and N60 G0 G40 G49 G50 are typical for these files. The file name HomeSwitchRearPanelEngrave.NCC or Griffin Relief.ncc is typical for these files.
