What is an NRV file

NRV files mostly belong to Nero. NRV files are proprietary project files created by Nero software. They store project data for slideshows and video projects rather than the actual images or videos.

NRV file format:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our examination of the NRV files comes to the following conclusion:

NRV is rarely used as a file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in NRV files:

• 45% of all NRV files are Nero Video-CD compilation files. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. NRV files can be up to 260 KB in size, but are often around 2 KB - 79 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. PICTURES, AUTOPLAY=AUTO_ON, CENTRTRACK=2, CONTROLS=ALL, CURCOL=YELLOW, DUALCHAN=DUAL_ON, LOTID_X=64, LOTID_Y=64, PSDCURCOL=RED, PSDCURSHAPE=ARROW, TIMECODE_X=64, TIMECODE_Y=100, Arial and Nero. The file name VCD1.nrv is characteristic of these files.
• 20% of all NRV files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "04 00 00 00 01 00 01 00" at the beginning. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. NRV files are between 2 KB and 10 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: PICTURES and Created with Nero. Video1.nrv is a typical file name.
