What is an OCT file?

OCT files mostly belong to Radiance by Greg Ward. OCT filename extension is associated with 3D scenes created using Radiance, a raytracing software package for UNIX operating systems. Contents of an OCT file can include 3D materials, lighting and objects stored using the OCTREE binary data structure format. Octave, a high-level programming language used for numerical computations stores compiled C++ source code as dynamically loadable objects in OCT files.

How do you open OCT files?

You need a suitable software like Radiance to open an OCT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
