OFC format details:
To find out what program is needed to open OFC files, you need to determine the file format. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our analysis of the OFC files produces the following result:
The OFC file extension predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 90% of all OFC files belong to Open Financial Connectivity. The files are using the common file format XML. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The files are often between 1 KB and 34 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. ACCTID, BANKID, <OFC>, <ACCTFROM>, <ACCTSTMT>, DTSTART, DTEND, <STMTRS>, </ACCTFROM>, <CPAGE>1252, <DTD>2, LEDGER, <ACCTTYPE>0, <STMTTRN> and TRNTYPE. Files like these are sometimes connected to statement, nodelx, nbcinter, transaction, history, cpte, brackley and extrato.
- 5% of all OFC files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "0 1 13 341 " at the beginning. They consist of unreadable binary data. Most of these files are 620 bytes to 19 KB in size.
All other OFC files (5%) have no uniform format. Tagged as transactions, account, nedbank or caixa. Just click the "Choose your .ofc file to view" button on this page to find out what your OFC file is.
