What is an OGL file?

OGL files mostly belong to OmniGuard 4.

OmniGuard log file: These OGL files store system logs generated by the OmniGuard 4 system. They record events and data entries used by security and monitoring software.

AFIX grid layout / Object Graphics Library file: Certain OGL files contain layout configurations or graphics data for applications like AFIX TrackerLE from Objective Grid. They hold grid structures and object arrangements.

Antenna measurement data file: Some OGL files include antenna simulation or measurement data. Programs such as OGLView or simulation tools by Altair Feko create these files to support antenna analysis.

How to open an OGL file

You need a suitable software like OmniGuard 4 to open an OGL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. OGL format details:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. The OGL file extension is not found very often and includes various formats for various programs. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 50% of all OGL files have the same signature V4.. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. Most of these files are 580 bytes to 27 KB in size. • 15% of all OGL files have the same signature FF FF. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are often between 2 KB and 24 KB in size. The keywords CGXStylesMap, CGXGridParam and control are typical for these files. Files like these are about afix.
