OMD files mostly belong to Lectra Modaris.

The OMD file extension is used for several distinct data formats. In one case, these files are garment pattern files that store design data for clothing production. They are used with systems like Lectra Modaris (Lectra) and are known as Modaris garment pattern files.

Other applications include:

How do you open OMD files?

OMD file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. OMD is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type includes very many different file formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in OMD files:

• 8% of all OMD files start with the bytes ÷ÿINCALEFID, which are crucial for this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are on average 46 KB in size and range from 10 KB to 160 KB. The keywords INCALEFID and version are typical for these files.
• 4% of all OMD files start with the bytes [ Version 4 ] [ Vertices crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. Most of these files are 290 bytes to 2 MB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as Vertices and [ Version 4 ].
