What is an OOM file

OOM files mostly belong to PowerDesigner. OOM files are PowerDesigner Object-Oriented Model files. They use XML as the underlying format to record object definitions, attributes, and relationships used in design projects.
When working with these files, note that:

They are created by and meant for PowerDesigner.

They store detailed model structures for enterprise and database design.

The XML format makes them readable in text editors, but editing should be done in PowerDesigner.

How do you open OOM files?

You need a suitable software like PowerDesigner to open an OOM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your OOM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a OOM file directly in the browser:. An OOM file predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:

• 95% of all OOM files are PowerDesigner Model files, which are based on the XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The average file size is 100 KB with most files being between 57 KB and 430 KB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, <?PowerDesigner AppLocale="UTF16", Label, Name, Objects and LastModificationDate. These files are attributed to diagram, model, class, object, oriented, case, cases and activity.
