- Alternatives: The MicroStation program is not the only application which utilizes P01 files. In regards to the Roxio Toast program, P01 files are utilized as a copy of a CD image created through the program. P01 file format details:
To find out what program is needed to open P01 files, you need to determine the file format. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. In the following you will find our evaluation of the P01 files:
The P01 file extension is not widely used. Such a file includes very many different file formats. The file formats most commonly found in P01 files are:
- 15% of all P01 files are based on the well-known UTF-16 (LE) file format. UTF-16 (LE) is an character encoding system for Unicode. UTF-16 files can be viewed in any modern text editor. These files start with the two bytes FF FE, the so called byte order mark (BOM). They consist of unreadable binary data. P01 files are between 17 KB and 16 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: INTERPRETATION, ASSAY, NAME, ASSAY NUMBER, DATE OF BIRTH, GENDER, INSTRUMENT RESPONS and RESULT. Some examples of file names are 20180601.P01.
- 15% of all P01 files have the same signature %!PS-Adobe-2.0. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. P01 files can be up to 330 KB in size, but are often around 29 KB - 190 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. %!PS-Adobe-2.0, %%Creator: BM, %%EndComments, %%Magnification factor x 1.000, %%Pad style: Avoid holes, %%Pages: 1, %%Title: BM Document, PCB Layer -, /thou, %%BoundingBox: 0 0 480 391 and %%File: z8.PCB. The file name Z8-0.P01 or Z8-1.P01 is characteristic of these files.
All the rest of the P01 files (70%) have different formats, the following 8 formats can be found: Ped, COD and Plan. You can get all the details of your P01 file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .p01 file to analyze" above.
