What is a P2M file?

P2M files mostly belong to SolidWorks.

P2M files are used in various specialized applications. They do not follow one single format; instead, they can store different types of data depending on the software that created them.

JPEG 2000 Image: Some P2M files contain image data encoded with the JPEG 2000 standard. Such files can be opened with any image viewer that supports this format.
CAD Material Files: In other cases, these files hold material definitions used in 3D design. For example, SolidWorks uses P2M files to store properties like texture, color, and other physical details of a 3D model.

How to open a P2M file

You need a suitable software like SolidWorks to open a P2M file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your P2M file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a P2M file directly in the browser:.
