What is a PDD file?

PDD files mostly belong to Database Designer for PostgreSQL by MicroOLAP. PDD filename extension is associated with images created or edited with PhotoDeluxe, a graphics editor that has been replaced with Photoshop Elements. These PDD files are similar to the PSD files created with Photoshop and they contain layers made up of text, images, and effects. Photoshop Elements and Photoshop can open files saved in PDD format. PDD is also one of the filename extensions of bitmap image files created with PaintShop raster graphics editor. Both kinds of PDD files are saved in binary format. Database Designer, a program for visually designing, generating, and modifying the structure of PostgreSQL databases, saves database designs in PDD files. The contents of PDD database design files are written in XML format.

How do you open PDD files?

You need a suitable software like Database Designer for PostgreSQL to open a PDD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PDD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PDD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

PDD format details:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our analysis of the PDD files produces the following result:

The PDD extension is quite commonly used. The file itself predominantly uses a uniform format. The two most common formats are as follows:

All other PDD files (12%) have no uniform format. You can get all the details of your PDD file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .pdd file to view this image" above.

a pdd database design is a special file format by MicroOLAP and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.

How to solve problems with PDD files

  • Associate the PDD file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open database designs. Because only the current version supports the latest PDD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the MicroOLAP manufacturer website after an available Database Designer for PostgreSQL update.
  • To make sure that your PDD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
  • Click here to open your .PDD file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
