What is a PDG file?

PDG files mostly belong to Chaoxing Reader by Chaoxing Digital Library. A PDG file is a design project created with Print Shop Deluxe software for Windows desktop. It contains text, images, and layout settings which make up a greeting card, invitation card, product label, letterhead etc. PDG is also the filename extension of a design file created with Print Designer GOLD desktop publishing software. Another type of PDG file is a digital book (e-book) downloaded from Chaoxing Digital Library. Chaoxing Reader can read such e-books. MetaCAM computer-aided manufacturing software saves a product part in a PDG file.

How to open a PDG file

You need a suitable software like Chaoxing Reader to open a PDG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PDG file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PDG file directly in the browser:. PDG file format details:

The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the PDG files produces the following result:

The PDG extension is very commonly found and includes various formats for various programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

40% of all PDG files are Chaoxing SSReader Digital Library e-Book files. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The files are on average 22 KB in size and range from 6 KB to 160 KB. This is an old file type which is rarely used today. Some examples of file names are 20180601.pdg or !00001.PDG.
30% of all PDG files are using the well-known JFIF file format to store the data. JFIF is short for JPEG File Interchange Format. It is a bitmap graphic that uses JPEG compression. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. PDG files can be up to 1 MB in size, but are often around 95 KB - 310 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as JFIF, Adobe Photoshop, Windows and Exif. Some examples of file names are 20180601.pdg or !00001.pdg.

All other PDG files (30%) have no consistent format, frequently e.g. The Print Shop Deluxe Greeting card, PNG, DOC, PDF, IIII, TFORM and PrintShopDeluxe. How to solve problems with PDG files

Associate the PDG file extension with the correct application.
Update your software that should actually open e-book or cover pages. Because only the current version supports the latest PDG file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Chaoxing Digital Library manufacturer website after an available Chaoxing Reader update.
