What is a RAP file?

RAP files mostly belong to RAPTOR by Martin C. Carlisle. A RAP file is a flowchart specification created using RAPTOR, a flowchart-based programming environment for Windows. Another type of RAP file contains the plan (layout) or an apartment, room, or garden designed with Room Arranger software. Music Studio music production software saves data in a different type of RAP file. Some programs use a RAP file to save data in ZIP archive compression format.

How do you open RAP files?

You need a suitable software like RAPTOR to open a RAP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. 25% of all RAP files are associated with Raptor flowchart files, which internally utilize the well-known .NET format. The .NET format is used to save Microsoft .NET Framework objects to a file (ex. save game state as file) via object serialization. Such a .NET object may contain functions and data like settings, images or videos. The contents of these files are partially readable by a human. RAP files are between 5 KB and 28 KB in size. It is a modern file type. The files contain the following words: System.Boolean, System.Int32, m_value and main. These files can be linked to raptor, solution, problem and array.
9% of all RAP files have the same signature [Room] FileVersion=. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The file size is in the range of 1 KB to 520 KB. The files contain the following words: [Room], Compression=zlib, Encoding=utf-8, [File], )tEXtCreation Time, DataSize=74551, IHDR, Name=skybox-left.png, po 21 9 2015 10:55:21 +0100"q and FileVersion=930.
