What is a TF file

TF files mostly belong to Terraform. Terraform Configuration Files (TF) are mainly used by HashiCorp's Terraform tool to define and manage infrastructure as code.
This text-based format lets users list resources, variables, and outputs in a clear, declarative way.
Additional uses include:

Terraform Configuration File: The primary use where infrastructure resources are defined.

Terraform Output File: Files that capture the output values from provisioning tasks.

Theme Transport File: A less common use where the file (often packaged as a ZIP) carries theme data, used by Sodek Transport.

How to open a TF file

You need a suitable software like Terraform to open a TF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your TF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a TF file directly in the browser:. The TF file type is a very commonly used file extension and is used by many programs, each with its own file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in TF files:

15% of all TF files have the same signature provider . The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The files are on average 21 bytes in size and range from 20 bytes to 2 KB. The file type is relatively new. The following keywords are characteristic: provider "google" {} and region. Examples of file names are provider.tf or main.tf.
15% of all TF files have the same signature variable ". These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. A typical file size is 560 bytes. The files contain the following words: default = "n1-standard-1", resource "google_compute_instance" "vm_instance" {, variable "instance_name" {}, variable "instance_type" { and variable "instance_zone" {}. A common filename is main.tf or variables.tf.
