How do you open UDS files?

UDS file format:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. UDS is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type includes different formats for different programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 55% of all UDS files belong to Sierra Generations Family. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. A typical file size is 140 KB. The file type was used 20 years ago but is still in use today. The following keywords are characteristic: My UDS Family. Files like these have the following tags: family, myfamily, tree and mytree, and often include person-related information.
- 30% of all UDS files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "IIHIITAG" at the beginning. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The average file size is 9 KB with most files being between 4 KB and 11 KB in size. The files contain the following words: IIHIITAG, Medium, U-2900 Spectrophotometer, System, User 1 and Auto. A common filename is S-001.UDS. Files like these have the following tags: overlay.
