What is a VAR file?
How to open VAR files
You need a suitable software like Virt-A-Mate to open a VAR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your VAR file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a VAR file directly in the browser:. VAR file format:
Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below you will find our evaluation of the VAR files:
The VAR extension is very commonly found and mainly uses a special format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 75% of all VAR files use the ZIP format, so several files are compressed and saved in one VAR file. Primarily 5 to 130 files are included. File names are e.g. meta.json, \Custom\, \Custom\Atom\, \Custom\Atom\Person\, \Custom\Atom\Person\Morphs\ and \Saves\. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. The files are often between 300 KB and 270 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. meta.json. These files are attributed to weebu, futa, mocap, renvr, vamx, scene, hair and vidyo, and often consist of personal data.
- 2% of all VAR files start with the bytes WNIVAR crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. A typical file size is 140 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as WNIVAR. A common filename is VPS_sid20180601_20180601.var.
All other VAR files (23%) have no uniform format, frequently e.g. Content. The category is woman, look, lady, damarmau, kitty, connectios, amateur, bubbles, dreamvr, acid or supa. Just click the "Choose your .var file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your VAR file is.
