What is a VFF file?

VFF files mostly belong to Veriface. VFF files are not a single well‐defined format but a label applied to several different file types. The file content depends on the original software and the purpose for which it was created.
Usage cases include:

Encrypted Data: Some VFF files use zlib compression to keep data secure. For example, Veriface uses them to store facial recognition data in an encrypted format.
3D Volumetric Images: Others contain 3D image volumes used in applications such as Amira or Dragonfly. These files hold volumetric image data for scientific visualization.

How to open a VFF file

Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as bands=1;, size, type=raster;, ncaa, origin, bits=16;, format=slice;, rank=3;, date, subject, title, y_bin, z_bin, spacing, center_of_rotation and rawsize. Such files are related to mouse.
