Opening an X File
The X file type is primarily associated with DirectX.
What is an X file?
How do you open X files?
You need a suitable software like DirectX to open an X file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your X file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a X file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

X file format:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the X files produces the following result:
The X file extension is quite widespread and includes various formats for various programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 60% of all X files belong to Microsoft Direct3D Object. X files are between 5 KB and 1 MB in size. The file type was developed 20 years ago and is still in use today. The keywords xof 0303txt 0032 and template are typical for these files. These files are attributed to boat, body, avatar, gust, mesh, user, defence and female.
- 6% of all X files save the data in ELF file format. ELF is the abbreviation for Executable and Linkable Format and is the standard binary format on Linux and Unix. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. X files can be up to 250 MB in size, but are often around 12 KB - 4 MB. Files like these are about proj.
All other X files (34%) have different formats, the following 16 formats can be found: Magic 3D Easy View object, Panzer Elite Action game data archive, ZIP, PDF, Java, JFIF, DOC, EXE, GZIP, NORK, cscipy, KSM and iDN. Files like these are sometimes linked to lung, striker, sorted, weapon, model or unit. You can get all the details of your X file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .x file to view this image" above.

How to solve problems with X files
- Associate the X file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open 3d objects. Because only the current version supports the latest X file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Microsoft manufacturer website after an available DirectX update.
- To make sure that your X file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .X file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
