What is an FP3 file

FP3 files mostly belong to FastReport Viewer by Fast Reports. FP3 file extension is associated with page layouts consisting of a report form with already populated fields created using FastReport, a report generation utility for programs. Such FP3 files are saved in FastReport Viewer's proprietary format which has cross-platform support. Versions 3 and 4 of FileMaker Pro, a relational database management system store databases in FP3 files. An FP3 database contains data organized into tables consisting of columns and rows. Later version of FileMaker Pro do not support FP3 format. Version 12 of FloorPlan, a 3D interior design software stores floor designs in FP3 files. FP3 Player, a discontinued digital audio player developed by Fisher-Price used a proprietary FP3 format to store audio content saved to the device.

How can I open an FP3 file?

You need a suitable software like FastReport Viewer to open an FP3 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FP3 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FP3 file directly in the browser:. FP3 file format:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension. FP3 is a very commonly used file extension and is mainly used by one program with a specific format. But the following two file formats are common:

• 90% of all FP3 files are FastReport Prepared report files, which are using the popular XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. FP3 files are between 14 KB and 790 KB in size. The file type is very recent. The following keywords are characteristic: <?xml version="1.0", encoding, utf-8, preparedreport, previewpages, page0, standalone and Left. These files are attributed to letter, templ, soft, report, genap, list, blutzellen, factura, faktura, invoice, laporan, stock and nota.
• 6% of all FP3 files are associated with FileMaker Pro 3 database. They consist of unreadable binary data. The average file size is 540 KB with most files being between 32 KB and 3 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. makAll, makes, play and work.

The remaining 4% of all FP3 files are files with no common format, the following 4 formats exist: FloorPlan Plus/3D Drawing and GZIP.
