GFX file extension format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below you will find our evaluation of the GFX files:
GFX is a very widely used file extension. The file type includes different formats for different programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 40% of all GFX files start with the bytes GFX, which are crucial for this file format. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The files are on average 100 KB in size and range from 8 KB to 300 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The file name minimap.gfx or hud_reticle.gfx is typical for these files. These files can be linked to reticle, font, texture, menu, graffiti, killfeed, cstyle and efigs.
- 15% of all GFX files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "spriteTypes = " at the beginning. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The file size is in the range of 300 bytes to 42 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. spriteTypes = {, name, texturefile, spriteType = { and interface. These files are often associated with portraits, technologies, icons, ideas, goals and eventpictures.
All the rest of the GFX files (45%) have different formats, often e.g. Print / Instant Artist for DOS Graphics, DOC, JFIF, ZIP, Flash, Source, CFX, PIP, objectTypes, hair, gfx, MOXTVersion, XFGCSED and bitmapfonts. Often described as renderer, components, loadingscreen, hypnonema, ducts, generic, eelsh or event. If you want to find out what your GFX file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
