What is a GTX file?

GTX files mostly belong to GT Designer 3. The GTX file extension is used by several specialized applications and is not limited to one single purpose.
Industrial HMI Files:
  • Mitsubishi HMI files created by GT Designer 3 store interface layouts and control configurations for industrial systems. These files are integral to designing operator panels. For more information, visit Mitsubishi Electric.
  • Game Textures and Data:
  • Some GTX files are texture image files used in digital art and game development. They store texture maps employed in real-time rendering.
  • Others hold game data such as those from Ludo King or texture assets for platforms like Nintendo Switch using tools such as NintendoWare Graphics Tool (NGT) and GEO Animator.
  • This category also includes texture files linked to games like Ragnarok Online.
  • Geospatial Models:
  • A few GTX files serve as geoid model files. They keep grid data for geospatial mapping and height calculations, as used by applications like Surfer, which you can review at Goldensoftware Surfer.
  • FilExt.com tip: If you need to open and view a GTX file, identifying the file’s origin is key. Use the software associated with its creation—GT Designer 3 for industrial HMI projects, specialized game asset editors for texture and game data files, or mapping tools like Surfer for geoid models.

File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below you will find our evaluation of the GTX files:

The GTX file extension is quite widespread and covers different formats for different programs. The two most common formats are as follows:

The remaining 50% of all GTX files are different files with different signatures, frequently e.g. GEO, Gfx and KAL. These files sometimes refer to small, stone, global, floor, giant or arid.
