Opening a PXL File

The PXL file type is primarily associated with Microsoft Excel.

What is a PXL file?

PXL files mostly belong to Microsoft Excel. PXL files are files that can serve different purposes depending on their origin. The most common use is as a Pocket Excel spreadsheet, which is a mobile spreadsheet file (often seen as a PlanMaker spreadsheet file).
Other formats include:

PixelSense files – used as PC Tools spreadsheet files that can be opened with Microsoft Excel. More details can be found at Microsoft Excel.

Canon printer overlay files – used for printer configuration on Canon devices like the iR-ADV series. See Canon for further information.

How to open PXL files

You need a suitable software like Microsoft Excel to open a PXL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PXL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PXL file directly in the browser:. How to convert a PXL file to XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV, TXT, PDF, ...

1. To do so, click the "Choose your .pxl file to view" button above.
2. After your file is opened in browser,
3. click "Save as..." in the menu.
4. Then choose the desired spreadsheet format (e.g. XLS, XLSX, ODS, CSV, TXT, PDF, ...).
5. Your file will be converted and downloaded.

If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the PXL files looks like this:

PXL is seldom used as a file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 60% of all PXL files are associated with Pocket Excel sheet. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The average file size is 3 KB with most files being between 610 bytes and 32 KB in size. The file type was primarily used more than 10 years ago. The following keywords are characteristic: Tahoma. The file name Book1.PXL is characteristic of these files. Such files are related to list.
• 8% of all PXL files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "05 02 00 00" at the beginning. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. PXL files can be up to 980 KB in size, but are often around 75 KB - 980 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Canon.
