File type: Gatan Digital Micrograph File Format

The DM3 file type is primarily associated with 'Gatan Digital Micrograph File Format'. The DM3 file format is the gold standard for saving Digital Micrograph files. The metadata in the image stores microscope and image information that is lost if the image is stored in any other format type. However, programs such as Adobe Photoshop do not, natively, read the DM3 files. ImageJ is an image processing and analysis program written in Java by Wayne Rasband at the U.S. National Institutes of Health and can open and view these files (among many other file types).

When windows gives you an error message saying that it
"Cannot open DM3 files", this means either:
