File extension: DPG
File type: Video

Notes about the DPG file extension:

To open this file type, a required software must be installed. Without it you only see a Windows message "The following file cannot be opened" (Windows 7) or "How do you want to open this file?" (Windows 10) if you double-click the file. There click on "More apps" and choose a suitable software to view such files on your PC or from email attachments.

The DPG file type is primarily associated with 'nDs-mPeG'. nDs-mPeG, usually abbreviated DPG, is a special format of MPEG-1 video specifically for playback using the homebrew Moonshell program for the Nintendo DS. The video is encoded on a computer and then transferred, along with Moonshell, to the DS for playback. The file is a standard MPEG-1 video stream (preceded by DPG-specific headers) combined originally with WAV audio, now uses MPEG-2 audio. DPG files are created by converting other video files using programs such as DPGTools or BatchDPG.
