The HMK file type is primarily associated with 'Hallmark Card Studio' by Creative Home. Hallmark Card Studio is a fun way to create unique Hallmark cards for any occasion. These are project files. If someone has sent you a card with the HMK extension politely write back and ask them to use the E-mail function in the program to send the card to you. It should then arrive as an AVI file which can be fairly large (some ISPs don't allow large attachments). The E-mail function is on the Personalize Card screen in the program and instructions are in the program's help file.
Alternative: Obtain one of the many PDF printer drivers (often free) and install it. Then, print the card as you would to paper but, instead, pick the PDF printer driver. This will print the card to a PDF file which can be mailed as an attachment. You sacrifice the ability to have sounds with the card but the file will be much smaller.
