.SAM File

File extension: SAM
File type: Document

Notes about the SAM file extension:

Incorrect file associations could be the result of underlying issues within your PC system. As such it is highly recommended to scan your PC for invalid registry entries, unused processes and other unfavourable system settings to identify slowdown issues.

The SAM file type is primarily associated with 'Ami Pro' by IBM. Word Processing program developed under DOS by Samna and purchased by Lotus who converted it to Windows and OS/2. Replaced by Word Pro 97. This was a Lotus product. Lotus was bought out by IBM. One user has suggested that the StarOffice (and probably by extension its OpenOffice.org cousin) will open AmiPro files even though they are not listed on the File|Open menu. A converter (ami332.csv) you place in the folder \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\TextConv is available.
