Opening an ITN File
The ITN file type is primarily associated with TomTom Navigator.
What is an ITN file?
- Main Use: TomTom Navigator is an application that is used in GPS navigation. It is mainly installed on Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), Palm devices, Pocket PCs, and Symbian OS-based mobile phone devices. The software uses map data from Tele Atlas to aid in GPS navigation across the European, Asian, African, North American, South American, and Australian continents. TomTom Navigator GPS software saves travel itinerary information in an ITN file format. This saved data can include various forms not limited to travel routes, places, and actions of interest.
- Features: The itinerary data in the ITN file is spread across 4 fields. The first field has the file name Field 0 and stores the Longitude data in WGS84 format. The second field has the file name Field 1 and contains the Latitude information in WGS84 format. The third field with the file name Field 2 has information concerning the name of the specified point or place. The fourth and the final field Field 3 consists of Flag information which is a specific number. ITN files can be opened using the TomTom HOME software on Windows and Mac systems.
