Exclamation Help needed with ".sav" files ASAP!!

Hello!

I need a quick help please.

I was using an old Windows version until recently, before I upgraded to Win XP. As part of the upgrade, I backed up all my data including Word documents. It seems these documents were saved as a .sav files. Now I have a trouble opening them on the new Windows OS.

Does any one have a clue as to how open a .sav file???? please I searched the net but I couldnt find any useful info. I need these files ASAP.

Looking for some tips soon!,

The implication of your question is that the Word files were saved with the .SAV file extension. This would be unusual as Word has used .DOC for quite a long time for its documents. Early versions might have been different; I don't recall.

Anyhow, if you have Word now and it won't open the files, use the Word trick here...

...to pull the text out of the files at least. The formatting will be lost but at least you will be able to save the text parts of the document.

If the word processor was not Word, the above trick will still likely work but it would be better to know what specific program created the files. MANY programs use .SAV so it's impossible to tell just from the extension alone.

As another tip, try running the files past TrID and see what it calls for.
