I just tried to open an old file that the computer says is an LWP file, and has a .Iwp after the title. What can I open it in? |

Probably is a WordPro Document.
You can check the details for LWP extension in the FILExt DB, here: http://www.filext.com/detaillist.php?extdetail=lwp Bye!

This is Art at: artandpat@fctvplus.net. I have 3 in disks that my computer has no port for. My son's computer accepts them. He sent them to me, but I could not open them. It says: lwp, after the document name. Anyone know how I can open them?
Thanks, ART |

As indicated in the above postings he probably has the WordPro program on his computer and you don't. Have him convert the file to something you can use.

There is a work around to open LWP file when you dont have WordPro installed on your system...
Lotus Key View will do the trick. Download this 2.32 MB little app. It will open the LWP file and then it's only copy and paste to -for example- a MS Word document. Although I think any other text editor will do the trick also... Download here: ftp://ftp.lotus.com/pub/lotusweb/product/smartsuite/ Look for the file called: Kvlotus.exe and just download it! If the original page lay out got lost when using copy 'n paste or when using the print option within Key View. Open the file with Key View then print to Adobe PDF. Open file with Adobe then export to (save as) MS Word (doc) file... This method should keep the page format! Quote:

Thanks much for that. I've just added a link to that post in the LWP listing.

Re your mssg [quote=Prozac1970;6113]
I tried to download the file 'Kvlotus.exe' as suggested but my PC seemed to reject it, coming up with the mssg: "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate application" Ther alternative to 'Close' is 'Ignore'; I tried both but without success. Do you know of any alternative? Roderick |
