A little more information would be helpful please. For example...
  • What do you expect the file to be?
  • What size is the file?
  • If you got it from someone what did they say it was and/or what they created it with?
  • If you downloaded it where did you find it?
  • If you just found it on your system what is the full path to the file (e.g., C:\Windows\System32\filename.ext )? (The full path might give clues as to what application created the file.)
  • Have you run it by TrID? If so, what did it say the file was?
  • What else do you know about the file that we don't?
All information you can give is helpful toward helping you do the detective work necessary to identify an unknown file.
