Question Converting Avi's to MP4's

Okay, so I need some help here. I'm currently using Windows XP Home, and I'd like to convert some downloaded videos that are in .avi format to mp4 format so that I might be able to put them on my ipod. So anyone know any nifty programs that can do that for me? I'd be most appreciative. Thanks a ton

Personally I use Total Video Converter and I'm pretty happy with it. It's not just an avi to mp4 converter - it supports alot of other formats. I use version 2.6.0.3 ,but I've heard that a beta version of 3.0 is out.

I corrected it by going to their website and looking in order to save people the trouble. If you got it less then they are selling it for then you might not have a legal copy or have a limited copy. Also, "unlimited trial" is an oxymoron. At some point you are expected to stop trying the software and buy it. That's how shareware works.

I recommend the ##### mpeg encoder that I mentioned here:
Although it is a shareware, I still think the quality is more important than money
