What is an IAF file?

IAF files mostly belong to Outlook 365 by Microsoft. IAF stands for Outlook Internet Account File. It is the file format used by Microsoft Outlook to store settings for an email account. Outlook is a personal information management application that is also a part of the Microsoft Office productivity suite. It provides a personal email and calendar, along with other features. The IAF format is used for exporting account settings from one installation of Outlook to another. It is a proprietary binary format that only stores account configuration and does not contain email messages. The IAF file format was used by older versions of Outlook. Outlook versions 2002, 2003, and 2007 allow importing and exporting IAF files by going to Import and Export in the File menu and selecting Import Internet Mail Account Settings. In Outlook 2000 Internet Mail Only (IMO) this can be done by selecting Accounts in the Tools menu. IAF files are also used by other email applications from Microsoft such as Windows Mail.

How to open IAF files

You need a suitable software like Outlook 365 to open an IAF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
