What is an OTA file

OTA files mostly belong to XnView by XnSoft. OTA is the filename extension of over-the-air images used by older Nokia and Siemens mobile phones. These OTA files are usually monochrome 72x28 pixel images saved in binary format or saved as hexadecimal data in a text file. You may view OTA images with programs such as XnView. OTA is also the filename extension of files containing firmware updates of Spartan hunting cameras such as the ATT Blackout. This type of OTA file contains bug fixes and feature updates for the camera's firmware. MIDI-type ringtones used by some Android phones are also stored in OTA files. OTA ringtones can be played with the file viewer on such phones.

How to open OTA files

You need a suitable software like XnView to open an OTA file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your OTA file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a OTA file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.
