What is an HF file?

HF files mostly belong to Hilti PROFIS Detection Systems. HF files are used in several systems and serve different functions based on the originating application.
For instance, one common use is as a Hilti Ferroscan file that holds ground penetrating radar data. These files capture sensor readings from construction and site-assessment equipment. They are typically opened with Hilti software available at Hilti.
Other uses include:

How to open HF files

• 20% of all HF files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "HIFFII10" at the beginning. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. "BaseType" : "Sensing", "MeasuringType" : "GroundPenetratingRadar", 0.2.0.3, FORM4@, Hilti PS 1000, INFODSRC, INFOTENC, JSON, METAPROP, SENSPROP, VERS, utf-8 and HIFFII10.
• 20% of all HF files are based on the well-known MP4 file format. MP4 is a multimedia container format used to store video and audio and allows streaming over the Internet. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. Most of these files are 4 MB to 53 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. ftypmp42, isommp42, ZZZZZZZZZZZZ and mdat!!E.
