Opening BUFFER Files
The BUFFER file type is primarily associated with Eleventy.
What is a BUFFER file
For example, some of these files are cached image data files that store image information in PNG format. This kind of file is used by Eleventy for quick access to graphics during web operations. You can learn more at Eleventy.
Other BUFFER files hold game asset data for titles like Cyberpunk 2077. They can include red Engine 3 data files or other temporary game assets. More details can be found at Cyberpunk 2077.
FilExt.com tip: Please note that these files are generated by their host applications, and manual editing might lead to operational issues.
How to open a BUFFER file
You need a suitable software like Eleventy to open a BUFFER file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your BUFFER file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a BUFFER file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert BUFFER files:
- Eleventy
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. BUFFER files are often referred to as Eleventy data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Apple II operating system
BUFFER file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below is our analysis of the BUFFER files:
BUFFER is not a commonly used file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 25% of all BUFFER files are based on the popular PNG file format. PNG is short for Portable Network Graphics. It is a high-quality raster image file that supports lossless data compression. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The average file size is 340 KB with most files being between 110 KB and 400 KB in size. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as IDATx, IHDR and sBIT. An example of a file name is IMG_20180601.jpg.cover.buffer or IMG_20180601.jpg.cover[1].buffer. Files like these have the following tags: cover.
- 15% of all BUFFER files start with the bytes CR2W crucial for this file format. These files are not pure binary files and are therefore readable and interpretable with a text editor. The file size is in the range of 3 KB to 260 KB. The keywords CR2W, CMaterialInstance, baseMaterial and rRef:IMa are typical for these files. The file name character_0fedafe1904ada14__mq025__razor_hugh.cookedapp.0.buffer is characteristic of these files. Such files are related to mesh, character, cookedapp, fedafe, razor and 3D model.
All other BUFFER files (60%) have no uniform format. These files sometimes refer to anims, pants, silverhand, strongarms, computer, eleventy, assets, cache, cargo, shirt or body. If you want to find out what your BUFFER file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for BUFFER File Extension
a buffer cache file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with BUFFER files
- Associate the BUFFER file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open cache files. Because only the current version supports the latest BUFFER file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Eleventy update.
- To make sure that your BUFFER file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .BUFFER file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
