What is an IGS file?

IGS files mostly belong to SolidWorks by Dassault Systèmes. An IGS file is a 2D or 3D drawing/model saved according to the Initial Graphics Exchange Specification (IGES) for computer-aided manufacturing. This file is mainly used to store vector-based graphics of CAD data such as wireframes, circuit diagrams, as well as mechanical part and assembly models. CAD programs compatible with IGS files include SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, and Inventor. Indigo Renderer 3D image creation software uses the same type of IGS file to store a 3D scene. How to open an IGS file

You need a suitable software like SolidWorks to open an IGS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
